Seven Montgomery County Public Schools seniors have earned full-tuition college scholarships through QuestBridge, a national nonprofit organization that connects high-achieving students with leading colleges and universities.
According to MCPS, the students were among 2,550 seniors nationwide who matched with QuestBridge college partners this year. On average, QuestBridge scholars have an unweighted GPA of 3.9, and 80 percent are first-generation college students whose parents did not attend a four-year college in the United States.
The following MCPS students, their high schools, and their matched colleges were shared by the school system:
Ryan Cruz, Albert Einstein High School – Northwestern University
Mersy Perdomo, Northwest High School – Columbia University
Emmanuel Getahun, Poolesville High School – Harvard College
Matthew Jiang, Richard Montgomery High School – Johns Hopkins University
Anthony Magana Sanchez, Richard Montgomery High School – Johns Hopkins University
Carlos Silva, Walter Johnson High School – Boston College
An additional MCPS student also received a QuestBridge match but chose not to share their information publicly.
QuestBridge partners with 55 colleges and universities nationwide, offering full-tuition scholarships to students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and financial need. MCPS credited the students’ hard work and dedication, noting that the scholarships open doors to some of the nation’s most competitive institutions.
