A fallen tree damaged a trailer home in Germantown Monday afternoon as strong winds moved through Montgomery County.
According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, crews were dispatched around 1:42 p.m. to the Middlebrook Gardens community at 19500 Frederick Road near Gunners Branch Road for a report of a tree down on top of a trailer home. All occupants were able to get out safely, and no injuries were reported. Downed wires at the scene caused a power outage in the area.
In a 2:22 p.m. update, Piringer reported a related incident nearby at Rembrant Street and Magnolia Way, off Frederick Road. A tree struck another trailer home, bringing down wires and knocking out power. The occupants again escaped without injury, but one family was displaced as a result of the damage.
Both incidents were part of a series of wind-related emergencies reported across the county Monday afternoon. Officials reminded residents to stay clear of downed power lines, secure outdoor items, and use caution during periods of strong wind.
