MCPD Holiday Alcohol Task Force Reports 24 DUI Arrests, Hundreds of Citations Issued

Montgomery County Police released new enforcement data from Week 6 of its 2025 Holiday Alcohol Task Force, detailing heightened DUI and traffic enforcement during the Christmas holiday period.

According to MCPD, task force officers devoted their full attention to detecting alcohol-related offenses between December 24 and December 27. During that time, officers conducted 253 traffic stops and issued a total of 307 traffic citations, along with 317 warnings and 22 vehicle repair orders.

Enforcement efforts also resulted in one alcohol restriction violation and one civil alcohol citation. Officers administered three breath tests and made one criminal arrest unrelated to DUI enforcement. Most notably, 24 individuals were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during the four-day enforcement period.

Police emphasized that the reported DUI arrests reflect only those made by members of the Holiday Alcohol Task Force and do not include additional DUI arrests made by patrol officers during regular duty assignments. As a result, the overall number of DUI arrests countywide during this period is higher.

MCPD says holiday alcohol enforcement will continue as New Year’s celebrations approach, urging drivers to plan ahead, use designated drivers, or arrange for alternative transportation.
