Luna Hall Scraps Plans for Pike Center Location in Rockville

Luna Hall is no longer moving forward with plans to open a food hall at the Pike Center in Rockville.

The food hall originally signed on to the project in 2023 and had already begun construction on the space at the Pike Center, the shopping center at 12119 Rockville Pike that was longtime home to TGI Friday’s and is currently home to Golfdom. A representative from Luna Hall confirmed to us that the planned opening will no longer happen, and the large space is now listed as available in leasing documents.

Luna Hall was set to take over the former CiCi’s Pizza space. Plans for the location called for a multi-concept food hall featuring Top Pot Korean BBQ & Hot Pot, Dumpling District, Tous les Jours, and the relocation of the Kung Fu Tea that previously operated at Pike & Rose.

Luna Hall currently operates locations in Washington, D.C., Ellicott City, and Montgomery County, with its local location at 12009 Georgia Ave. in Wheaton. Concepts operating within its other food halls include Carmen’s Italian Ice, Kung Fu Tea, TKK Fried Chicken, Poke Ninja, and additional vendors.

The news comes as the Pike Center property itself is the subject of a broader redevelopment proposal. As reported this past summer, Kimco, the owner of the shopping center, has proposed redeveloping the site into a more modern, walkable, mixed-use community. The plan would require a zoning change to allow for denser construction, replacing the existing single-story retail buildings and large surface parking lot with new buildings designed to create a more pedestrian-friendly environment.
