Driver Crashes Through Crabcake Factory Bayside, Restaurant Closed Until Further Notice

Crabcake Factory Bayside in Fenwick Island, Delaware is closed until further notice after a vehicle crashed through the restaurant.

The waterfront restaurant, located at 37314 Lighthouse Road on the West Fenwick waterfront, sustained damage after a driver drove into the building. Only minor injuries have been publicly reported, and a timeline for repairs or reopening has not been announced. Crabcake Factory Bayside is the sister restaurant to Ocean City, Maryland’s Original Crabcake Factory and Crabcake Factory West.

The Crabcake Factory brand was founded in 1996 by Johnny Brooks, who opened the Original Crabcake Factory as a small family-run restaurant on 120th Street in North Ocean City. Brooks, who previously opened his first bar at age 21, built the restaurant’s reputation on its “no-filler” jumbo lump crab cakes. The business later expanded into a nationwide shipping operation that has delivered millions of crab cakes across the country.

As the brand grew, Crabcake Factory Bayside opened along the Assawoman Bay in Selbyville, offering a larger dining space with waterfront views. While the Bayside location shares the same “World Famous” seafood recipes and oversized Bloody Marys as its Ocean City counterparts, it is also known for exclusive off-the-menu specials created by Johnny Brooks and his wife, Krista.

The extent of the damage and the expected length of the closure have not been released. The Original Crabcake Factory locations in Ocean City remain open.
