In 2023, The Washington Post ranked Steeze Burger as the number 1 burger in the DMV (DC Metro Area). Founded by Laytonsville resident Hunter Karametos, Steeze Burger launched as a pop-up in 2022 after Karametos spent nearly a year sampling more than 150 burgers as part of his research. Soon, Steeze Burger will open its first brick and mortar restaurant.
After several successful years hosting pop-ups across Montgomery County and the broader DC Metro area, Steeze Burger is officially making the leap to brick and mortar. The popular burger concept will open its first permanent location at 12141 Darnestown Road, at the Shops at Potomac Valley shopping center in Gaithersburg.
The space had previously been slated for Kong Dog, with permanent signage installed in the fall of 2024. However, more than a year later, no interior progress followed. Steeze Burger will now take over the location, which was also long known as the former home of Neal’s Bagels before the business relocated to Kentlands.
Steeze Burger is targeting a Spring 2026 opening. Karametos reflected on the milestone in a message to supporters, saying, “Wow, what a journey. From the parking lots to the backyards, the friendships and family that have grown from something so simple is truly humbling, and we are forever grateful. Thanks to you all, Steeze Burger will have a place to call home this spring. Cannot wait for you all to see.”
