A multi-vehicle crash involving six vehicles was reported Saturday morning on Sweepstakes Road in Damascus, prompting a temporary road closure and traffic advisory.
According to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCPS) Pete Piringer, all six vehicles sustained property damage, but no injuries were reported. Officials said slick, hilly side roads contributed to the incident, as some vehicles were unable to navigate the incline and slid backward into other cars, causing minor damage.
Sand and salt trucks were requested to treat the roadway, and Sweepstakes Road was closed or blocked for a period between Ridge Road and Woodfield Road while crews responded. Authorities noted that main roads in the area, including Route 27 and Route 355, remained passable and were not experiencing the same conditions.
