Mia Dove, editor-in-chief and marketing manager of The Buzz, was selected as the 2026 Maryland Student Journalist of the Year by a panel of journalism educators, according to the Maryland-DC Scholastic Press Association.
The Montgomery County Planning Board approved a conditional use application for a new car wash in Damascus during its March 26, 2026 meeting, clearing the way for a redevelopment project at 26203 Ridge Road. The application, filed as Conditional Use No. CU202503, allows for the construction of a car wash on a site currently developed as a former bank property along MD 27.

Quincy’s Uptown, a restaurant and bar located at 9813 Main St. in Damascus, will close permanently on Sunday, March 15. The restaurant first opened in late 2018 and has operated in Damascus for approximately 7.5 years.
Jimmie Cone will open for its 64th season on Tuesday, March 17, continuing a tradition that has drawn generations of customers to the Damascus ice cream stand at 26420 Ridge Road.
