Chick-fil-A has received a $1.4 million building permit to construct its new restaurant at 22675 Clarksburg Road at the Clarksburg outlets, according to Maryland Newsletters.
The new restaurant is one of two Chick-fil-A locations planned for upcounty. In addition to Clarksburg, the company has also proposed a second restaurant in the Milestone area of Germantown, to be located in the parking lot in front of Kohl’s off Ridge Road.
Plans for the Clarksburg restaurant have been in motion for a couple of years now. In December 2023, a pre-submittal community meeting was held to discuss Site Plan Amendment No. 82014016C, which proposed an approximately 6,350 square foot Chick-fil-A restaurant with a drive-thru and associated parking. That site plan was approved in spring 2024.
The Clarksburg Chick-fil-A will be built on a portion of the existing surface parking lot between Cabin Branch Parkway and the smaller upper lot at the Clarksburg Outlets. The project is designed as an infill development and will include a drive-thru.
According to the site plan application, the proposal seeks to redevelop part of the existing parking lot with a Chick-fil-A restaurant featuring “high-quality architecture and streetscape elements.” Per the plans, the project is intended to make more efficient use of the property while serving as a complementary use alongside nearby retail and residential development.
