A driver was transported to the hospital Tuesday morning after crashing a vehicle into a store at the Northgate Shopping Center in Aspen Hill, causing structural damage and prompting a response from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.
The incident was first reported around 8:06am as a vehicle into a building in the 13800 block of Georgia Avenue near Aspen Hill Road. Initial reports identified the location as Michael’s, but responders later clarified that the crash occurred at a neighboring business.
By 8:23am, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services confirmed that a driver had become trapped inside the vehicle and was extricated by emergency crews. One adult was evaluated on scene and transported as a Priority 2 trauma patient. Due to damage to the structure, a building inspector was notified.
A subsequent update at 8:41am, updated the exact location as Gigi’s Beauty Supply, which is located next to Michael’s within the Northgate Shopping Center. Fire and rescue officials confirmed the crash involved a single vehicle and resulted in damage to the building. The driver was safely extricated and transported by MCFRS EMS units.
No additional injuries were reported. The cause of the crash has not yet been released, and the extent of the building damage remains under evaluation.
