The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) continues to search for a suspect vehicle in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred earlier this month in Fairland.
According to police, detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a crash that happened at approximately 6:39 pm on Monday, January 12, 2026, in the area of southbound Columbia Pike (Route 29) and Fairland Road. The vehicle involved is described as a red 1999 to 2003 Toyota Solara with visible damage to the driver’s side mirror, left headlight or fog light, and the left front bumper area.
The collision resulted in the death of Florence L. Chumbow, 73, of Silver Spring.
