Advisory in Effect as Wind Chill Values Expected to Reach Below Zero

A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for Montgomery County through 11 am Tuesday, January 27, with a second advisory scheduled from 7 pm Tuesday through 11 am Wednesday, January 28, according to the National Weather Service.

Wind chill values are expected to fall below minus 5 degrees Fahrenheit during both periods as an arctic air mass continues to impact the region.

Forecasters warn that the dangerously low wind chills could lead to frostbite or hypothermia if precautions are not taken, particularly with prolonged exposure outdoors. Residents are advised to dress in layers, wear hats and gloves, limit time outside when possible, and bring pets indoors or ensure outdoor animals have adequate shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Additional cold weather advisories may be issued later in the week as the cold pattern continues.
