Montgomery County Musical Artist Jay Diamondz Discusses Grammy Invitation

Montgomery County native and musical artist Jay Diamondz is heading to the Grammy Awards as a guest of Gemini Muziq, a producer he has worked closely with on his own music.

Montgomery County has always been Jay Diamondz’s home base. He grew up in the county, attended Blake High School, and later studied at Montgomery College. Over the years, he has lived in different parts of the county, but the connection has remained constant. It was in Montgomery County where he first began performing, experimenting with music, and imagining a future that stretched beyond his immediate surroundings. Even as opportunities pulled him elsewhere, he says the county has always been the place he returns to, crediting it with shaping who he is as an artist and a person.

Finding out he was invited to attend the Grammys as a guest of a producer he has collaborated with felt completely unreal. At first, it didn’t register. He describes it as one of those moments where the emotional reaction comes before the mind catches up, followed by tears of joy. Beyond the excitement, the invitation sparked something deeper. For him, it felt like confirmation that sustained focus, belief, and effort can lead to moments once thought out of reach.

Walking the red carpet still feels surreal, but also grounding. Diamondz says the experience has been both motivating and affirming, pushing him to keep raising his standards. He is currently working with a team of designers who are developing his look for the event, treating the opportunity with the same level of intention he brings to his music.

Diamondz will be a guest of Gemini Muziq, who has previously been nominated and has worked with artists including Justin Bieber, Jason Derulo, and Post Malone. Diamondz and Muziq have collaborated closely on developing his sound and shaping the direction of his project. Being around someone operating at that level, he says, has raised his expectations and challenged him to think bigger while working smarter.

He credits his upbringing in Montgomery County with giving him a strong work ethic. The county’s mix of cultures exposed him to a wide range of influences early on, many of which naturally found their way into his music. At the same time, being outside of a major music hub taught him discipline and independence, reinforcing the importance of creating opportunities rather than waiting for them.

Those lessons trace back nearly a decade to his earliest days recording music at friends’ houses and in a shed in Rockville. That do-it-yourself beginning shaped not just his sound, but his mindset.

As for Grammy weekend, Diamondz says it’s both celebration and business. While there are events and moments of excitement, there’s also a professional side where meaningful conversations and connections often happen organically. He plans to approach the experience with intention while fully allowing himself to enjoy it.

He’s looking forward to meeting new artists, producers, and creatives whose work he respects, as well as the unexpected moments that often become the most meaningful. And if there’s one person he hopes to run into, he says without hesitation: Lady Gaga.
