The Montgomery County Department of Police reported that 1st District officers were dispatched at 2:39 pm Tuesday to the 8100 block of Front Street in Derwood after a person released hazardous material inside a residence.
As a precaution, nearby homes were evacuated and residents were advised to avoid the area.
In an update, police confirmed that the gas released inside the home was cleared by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews. One adult male was found dead inside the residence. Officials stated there is no danger to the surrounding community. We will provide an update if additional verified information becomes available.
