Laud Shawarma has reopened at a new location following the closure of Solaire Social in downtown Silver Spring. The Nigerian-style shawarma restaurant is now operating inside The Common Kitchen in Clarksville.
The restaurant has begun a month-long soft opening, with a grand opening planned for next month. The refreshed menu includes signature shawarmas with meat and plant-based options, shawarma cups, honey-glazed wings, and sandwich melts. New offerings include the Laud Bento Box, featuring shawarma, jollof rice, wings, and zobo, as well as expanded flavors of its popular vegan Agege bread.
Laud Shawarma closed its first brick-and-mortar location in October after Solaire Social abruptly shut down, just seven months after the restaurant opened. The food hall, which housed 11 local vendors, ceased operations in late October 2025. Vendors were given short notice to vacate, and many, including Laud Shawarma, were forced to quickly seek new locations.
