A fire broke out late Saturday night in the attached garage of a single-family home on Forest Brook Court in the Crawford Farm area of Germantown, prompting a large emergency response from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).
According to MCFRS Public Information Officer Pete Piringer, firefighters were dispatched around 11pm to the home off Waring Station Road for a reported garage fire. Multiple engines, trucks, medic units, and command staff responded to the scene.
Fire officials said the blaze appeared to have originated in the attached garage and was knocked down by crews before it could spread further into the home. An electric vehicle may have been involved, though officials have not confirmed details about the cause.
Approximately 60 firefighters were on scene working in extremely cold conditions, with temperatures around 11 degrees and wind chills making it feel closer to 8 degrees.
All occupants were able to safely exit the home, and several pets, including reptiles, were reported to be unharmed. No injuries were reported.
The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished, but the family has been displaced as a result of the damage. Fire investigators are continuing to examine the cause and circumstances surrounding the incident.
