The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is conducting a two-day “Pothole Blitz” on Wednesday, February 11, and Thursday, February 12, to repair road damage across Montgomery County following recent winter storms.
More than 125 MCDOT employees will be deployed to address potholes on approximately 5,400 lane miles of county-maintained roads. Officials said the effort is aimed at quickly restoring roadway conditions after prolonged freezing temperatures and ice formation caused widespread pavement damage.
Residents are encouraged to report potholes on county roads online or by calling 311 or 240-777-0311. Requests submitted after the blitz will continue to be accepted and addressed within three business days, weather permitting.
For state-maintained roads, including routes such as MD 355 and Route 97/Georgia Avenue, residents should contact the Maryland State Highway Administration through its online service form or by calling 301-513-7300. Those living in municipalities such as Rockville and Gaithersburg are advised to submit requests directly to their local governments.
County officials noted that the recent storm was followed by the third-longest stretch of consecutive subfreezing days in more than a century, contributing to significant pavement deterioration. Since February 2025, MCDOT has filled more than 2,700 potholes on county roads.
