Two Men Arrested After Guns and Drugs Found in Montgomery Village Traffic Stop

The Montgomery County Police Department has arrested two men and charged them with multiple handgun- and drug-related offenses following a traffic stop in Montgomery Village earlier this month.

Police said 26-year-old Nyrel Daquan Lee of Montgomery Village and 25-year-old Noric Obed Malgar of Gaithersburg were taken into custody on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Officers with MCPD’s 6th District Community Action Team were conducting proactive patrols near the Montgomery Village Shopping Center when they observed suspicious activity involving a black Kia Sorento.

After witnessing a traffic violation, officers initiated a stop near Germantown Road and Observation Drive. During the investigation, police determined that Lee, who was driving, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two loaded handguns, one found under the driver’s seat and another located inside a bag near Malgar, who was a passenger. Officers also recovered controlled dangerous substances, drug paraphernalia, and an undisclosed amount of cash from inside the vehicle.

Both men were transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where they are currently being held without bond. The investigation remains ongoing.
