The Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are hiring Montgomery County native Brian Fleury as their new offensive coordinator, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
Fleury, a Germantown native, was the quarterback of Seneca Valley High School’s 1997 state championship team, a run that remains one of the program’s defining moments. After graduating from Seneca Valley, he began his collegiate career at the University of Maryland before transferring to Towson University, where he played quarterback for four seasons from 1999 through 2002. He earned a degree in sports management from Towson in 2002.
Fleury brings extensive NFL experience to Seattle. He just completed his seventh season with the San Francisco 49ers, including his first year as the team’s run game coordinator and tight ends coach. From 2022 through 2024, he served as tight ends coach, following roles as an offensive quality control coach during the 2020 and 2021 seasons and a defensive quality control coach in 2019.
Before joining the 49ers, Fleury spent three seasons with the Miami Dolphins, first as a football research analyst in 2016 and then as the team’s director of football research from 2017 to 2018. His background in both analytics and on-field coaching has helped shape his reputation as a detailed, modern offensive mind.
