Gaithersburg Liquor Store Closes for Four-Month Renovation

The Montgomery County Liquor Store located at 866 Muddy Branch Rd in Gaithersburg’s Muddy Branch Square has closed for an expected four months as renovations begin to convert the location into an Oak Barrel & Vine.

The Muddy Branch Square store is being upgraded as part of the county’s Oak Barrel & Vine retail concept, which is designed to provide a more elevated, boutique-style shopping experience. These stores typically feature a broader and more curated selection of spirits, an emphasis on locally produced items, and dedicated tasting areas not found in standard county liquor stores.

A sign posted on the store’s door outlines the reason for the closure and the anticipated timeline:

“OUR STORE WILL BE TEMPORARILY CLOSED

FOR (AN APPROXIMATELY) FOUR (4) MONTH REMODEL

BEGINNING SATURDAY FEBRUARY 14TH, 2026.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO REOPENING WITH A REFRESHED SPACE TO BETTER SERVE OUR COMMUNITY.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS AND THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.”

During the renovation period, customers are directed to nearby county liquor store locations in Darnestown, Walnut Hill, Gaithersburg Square, and Fallsgrove. No specific reopening date has been announced beyond the estimated four-month construction window.
