Two people were rescued early Monday morning after their vehicle became disabled in floodwaters near Poolesville.
At approximately 3am, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services(MCFRS) units responded to the area of Hunting Quarter Road and River Road in a flooded creek and wetland area, where a vehicle had driven into approximately two feet of standing water and became stranded. Firefighters conducted a shallow water crossing to reach the occupants and safely extract them from the vehicle.
The occupants had attempted to self-rescue for several hours and became wet and cold before calling 911. Both individuals were transported by MCFRS and were evaluated for cold exposure and possible hypothermia.
