Staples at 5557 Urbana Pike in Frederick’s Riverview Plaza is set to close permanently on March 6, according to a report by Frederick City Media that was later confirmed to us by an employee on Wednesday evening.
The closure comes roughly six months after the Staples location in Germantown closed in Montgomery County. That former Germantown store has since been taken over by Dollar Tree. Another Frederick-area Staples, located at 1305 W 7th Street, will remain open, a representative from that store confirmed.
Staples is a national office supply retailer best known for selling paper products, printing and copying services, office furniture, technology, school supplies, and shipping services. An employee at the Riverview Plaza store shared that the location has been open for more than 20 years. The space is currently under negotiation with plenty of rumors, though it is not yet clear what business may move in next.
