After more than a decade, the Bluemercury location at Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg has closed its doors permanently. The store originally opened in September 2015. The space has been listed as available in leasing documents for several months.
Bluemercury is known for its “neighborhood store” approach to beauty retail. Unlike larger beauty warehouses, Bluemercury offers a curated selection of high-end skincare, makeup, and beauty brands, brought together in a welcoming environment where customers can receive expert advice tailored to their needs.
Although the Rio Lakefront store is closing, Bluemercury continues to serve the region through several other locations. These include stores at Bethesda Row, Cabin John Village (Potomac), Pike & Rose (North Bethesda), and Wildwood Shopping Center (Bethesda), where customers can still find the brand’s signature mix of premium beauty products and expert consultations. No word yet on what may replace Bluemercury.
