Winter Storm Watch Expands Across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia

The Winter Storm Watch has expanded to include more of Maryland (now including anll of Montgomery County), DC, and Northern Virginia, as confidence grows in a potentially impactful storm late Sunday into Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow is possible across the District of Columbia and portions of central and southern Maryland, along with central and northern Virginia. Forecasters say total snow accumulations of 5 inches or more are possible, with wind gusts reaching up to 35mph.

The watch is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. While exact totals and placement are still uncertain, the timing raises concerns for the Monday morning commute, with slippery and hazardous road conditions likely if the higher-end snowfall scenarios materialize.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates through the weekend as the forecast continues to evolve and more details become clearer.
