Law enforcement agencies working with the Maryland Car Rally Task Force disrupted multiple illegal car rallies overnight, including activity in Silver Spring and Chevy Chase, as part of a coordinated enforcement effort across the National Capital Region.
The operation ran from 10:00pm through 4:00am and focused on preventing large gatherings linked to exhibition driving, disorderly behavior, and roadway shutdowns. Officials said crowds of up to 300 participants were prevented from establishing events in Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, and Howard counties through high visibility patrols and early intervention.
The Task Force coordinated monitoring and enforcement at the following locations:
15606 Emerald Way in Bowie
6210 Allentown Road in Camp Springs
8582 Fenton Street in Silver Spring
9500 Marlboro Pike in Upper Marlboro
6050 Fallard Drive in Upper Marlboro
7705 Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase
2600 Marble Court in Forestville
1415 Magellan Road in Hanover
In Camp Springs, Maryland State Troopers arrested a 19 year old driver from Fayetteville, North Carolina, and a 17 year old passenger from Falls Church, Virginia, after recovering a loaded firearm from a Dodge Charger. Both were charged with firearm related offenses and taken to the Prince George’s County Detention Center. Officials said the Maryland Car Rally Task Force, which includes state, county, city, and transportation police agencies, will continue coordinated efforts to address illegal exhibition driving across the region.
