Nearly 100 local businesses, nonprofits, county agencies, and community organizations will come together on Sunday, March 1, as the Olney Chamber of Commerce hosts its 44th Annual Community Day, Montgomery County’s longest-running business and family expo.
Community Day runs from 2 to 5:30pm at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, located at 17301 Old Vic Boulevard. Admission is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations for Olney HELP and used eyeglasses for the Olney Lions Club.
Visitors can explore exhibits featuring schools, camps, home services, real estate, recreation, health and fitness, senior care, legal and financial services, and faith-based organizations.
Kids will enjoy inflatables, face painting, crafts, games, and more, while music and live entertainment add energy for all ages. Family bingo returns, and exhibitors will offer raffles and giveaways throughout the event.
The Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department will bring its interactive Fire Safety Trailer, offering hands-on lessons in fire prevention and survival skills, including navigating a simulated smoke-filled environment and practicing “stop, drop, and roll.”
The Taste of Olney will feature food options from Grubbing Hard, La Table du Château, Carmen’s Italian Ice, El Tacos Pariente, Palmetto Bay Cuisine, Kona Ice, and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee. Some vendors will be located inside the dining hall, with food trucks set up just outside.
Olney Community Day is chaired by Chamber member Kate Dadourian, owner and director of Camp Rippling Brook. “It is a pleasure to serve as the chair of the 44th Olney Community Day, an event that has brought our community together for decades,” Dadourian said. “This day is all about celebrating local businesses, organizations, and families in a fun and entertaining way. I’m thrilled to continue to offer family-friendly experiences to make this year’s event better than ever. I can’t wait to see our community come together to celebrate what makes Olney great.”
Terri Hogan, the Chamber’s executive director, emphasized the event’s broader impact. “Olney is home to a wide range of businesses and organizations beyond the storefronts people see every day,” Hogan said. “Community Day helps residents discover what’s available right here and support the businesses that support our community by employing neighbors, giving back locally, and preserving what makes Olney special.”
The Chamber thanked its Gold Sponsors, including Brooke Grove Retirement Village, Carlos Covarrubias State Farm, Fitzgerald Auto Malls, Friends House, and Sandy Spring Friends School, along with all event sponsors and community partners for their generous support.
