Montgomery County police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at approximately 9:47 pm, in the area of East-West Highway and Washington Avenue in Silver Spring.
Officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck. According to the preliminary investigation by the Collision Reconstruction Unit, 80-year-old Roland Singleton was crossing East-West Highway when he was struck by a 2019 Jeep Cherokee traveling eastbound.
Singleton was transported to a local hospital following the collision and later died on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from injuries sustained in the crash.
