The Walter Johnson High School Used Book Sale fundraiser for the Walter Johnson High School Booster Club is back and bigger than ever.
With more than 40,000 books across 35+ categories, this long-running community tradition has something for everyone. Volunteers organize the annual event and it takes hundreds of dedicated volunteers to collect, sort, and prepare the thousands upon thousands of books that fill the sale floor.
What You’ll Find
Shoppers can browse:
- Tens of thousands of fiction and non-fiction books
- Thousands of children’s and YA books
- Foreign language books in more than 10 languages
- DVD, CDs, games, graphic novels and records
- Recent test prep books and college guides
- Historical and collectible titles
- And yes — dictionaries are free!
It’s a true multi-generational event. Former students come back to shop. Families bring their kids. Longtime community members make it an annual tradition.
“This sale is about so much more than books,” said Natalie Shelton, Chair of the Used Book Sale. “It’s a chance for our community to come together, stock up on incredible reads at unbeatable prices, and directly support Walter Johnson students. Every purchase helps fund student activities that make WJ such a vibrant place.”
Where the Money Goes
Proceeds from the sale help the Booster Club provide grants for a wide range of student activities — from the arts through WJ Stage, to the modeling club, science and engineering clubs, community service organizations, debate and Model UN, and numerous sports teams, etc.
In short: your book haul helps power student opportunity.
