A group of Montgomery County students is heading to a national robotics competition after an impressive showing at both the regional and state levels.
Team MiniTechs, a robotics team based in Clarksburg, is made up of six fifth and sixth grade students from nearby schools. The team members are Aadhya Banoori, Aadhya Pandrapragada, Anushvi Mandava, Keya Parikh, Navya Panchal, and Sriya Sankara.
The team recently won the Championship Award at the First Lego League Maryland Qualifier on February 1, earning them a spot at the state competition. They went on to compete against 70 teams at the Maryland State Championship, held at UMBC on February 21.
At the state level, Team MiniTechs earned the Runner-Up Award in the Robot Performance category and finished among the top nine teams overall. With that result, the team secured advancement to a national competition.
Team MiniTechs will now represent the state of Maryland at the Western Edge Open, a national event taking place in Long Beach, California, from 5/28/26 through 5/31/26. The competition will include teams from across the United States as well as international participants.
