Rage Room Concept iSMASH Coming to Rockville

iSMASH, a rage room and entertainment concept built around stress relief and hands-on fun, is coming to The Square in Rockville.

The business is planning to open at 36-C Maryland Avenue, in the space next to Dirty Dough that is currently home to the Rockville Science Center. The science center is raising funds to relocate to a different  space in the area, clearing the way for the new entertainment concept to move in.

iSMASH offers interactive experiences designed to let guests blow off steam in a controlled environment. Its most popular attraction is the “rage room,” where visitors can smash items such as electronics, glassware, and furniture using tools like sledgehammers and baseball bats.

The company offers several smash packages that vary by time and number of breakable items. Options include the Smarter Smash, a 20-minute session with 20 glass items and one piece of electronics, the Standard Smash, a 35-minute session with 40 glass items and two electronics, and the Mega Smash, which runs 50 minutes and includes 60 glass items, five electronics, and a car windshield. The largest package, the Omega Smash, lasts 80 minutes and includes 80 glass items, eight electronics, a powder bomb, a car windshield, and a video recording of the session emailed afterward. Guests can also book specialty sessions such as BYOB, or “Bring Your Own Box,” where participants bring their own items to destroy.

In addition to smashing sessions, iSMASH also features a Splatter Paint experience. In this room, guests throw neon paint at canvases and sometimes the walls under blacklights, creating a colorful and intentionally messy art project. The activity is designed for all ages, with Splatter Paint open to participants as young as three years old.

Pricing varies by location and package, with most sessions across the country ranging from about $25 to $95 or more per person. An opening timeframe is not yet available.
