Montgomery County Police arrested a suspect after responding to a reported shooting Friday night in Silver Spring.
3rd District officers were dispatched around 10:09 pm to the area of Fenton Street and Roeder Road for an anonymous report of a shot fired. Officers located a single shell casing at the scene, but no victims were found and no injuries were reported.
Using nearby camera footage, the department’s Real Time Intelligence Center identified a possible suspect. Officers later located a man matching the description in the 8400 block of Fenton Street. During the stop, the adult male was found in possession of a handgun. Police determined he was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior felony conviction. He was arrested and transported to the Central Processing Unit.
