After a slower warm-up than initially expected, much warmer weather is finally on the way this week, with temperatures potentially climbing into the low 80s by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, lingering showers are expected today along a slow-moving frontal boundary, but warmer temperatures will begin settling in from today through Wednesday. The agency also notes that a strong cold front is forecast to move through the region late Wednesday into Thursday.
Once that front passes, cooler air will return to the area. Beginning Thursday and continuing through next weekend, daytime highs are expected to settle back into the upper 50s or lower 60s.
Looking a bit further ahead, there are early indications that winter weather could return to the region next week. Some forecast models are currently showing the potential for snow, though it remains more than a week away and is not something that needs close monitoring at this point.
