Olney

Signage Goes Up for Chicken Salad Chick

Permanent signage is now in place for Chicken Salad Chick at Olney Village Center.

The fast-growing Southern-style restaurant is preparing to open at 18209 Village Center Drive, next to Hallmark, in the space formerly occupied by a karate studio. As previously reported, franchise owners initially hoped to open the location in March, but the timeline has shifted slightly as buildout work continues.

Owners now say the Olney restaurant is targeting a late spring opening, possibly in May, while crews continue preparations behind the scenes.

The Olney location will be operated by franchise owners Jim Schleckser and Carrie Tydings, who both have longstanding ties to the local community. The pair has been involved with private school and nonprofit boards as well as youth athletics, and they have described the restaurant as another opportunity to invest locally and support the community they call home.

They previously said the brand’s emphasis on hospitality, service, and community connection played a key role in bringing the concept to Montgomery County. Their goal is to create a welcoming neighborhood restaurant where guests feel at home, paired with a menu known for its wide variety of signature chicken salad flavors.

When it opens, the Olney restaurant will become Chicken Salad Chick’s second Maryland location, joining the existing restaurant in Westminster.
