Montgomery County Man Claims $50,000 Powerball Win

A Chevy Chase real estate agent is considering buying a new home after discovering a Powerball ticket he briefly forgot about had won him $50,000.

According to MD Lottery, the man said he routinely buys a Powerball ticket each month and purchased two quick pick combinations on February 9, but forgot about the ticket until hearing two days later that a winning Powerball ticket had been sold at the store where he made his purchase. After checking his ticket, he confirmed he had won the $50,000 prize.

The ticket was purchased from a lottery vending machine at the Giant at 8500 Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase. One of the quick pick combinations matched four of the first five white balls plus the red Powerball, earning a third-tier prize. The man, who has worked in real estate for six years and enjoys sailing in his free time, said he plans to use the winnings toward buying a home.
