MCDOT to Hold Virtual Meeting on Proposed Sidewalk Improvements

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will host a virtual public meeting on Thursday, March 26 at 7pm to present proposed sidewalk improvements within the walksheds of Glen Haven Elementary School in Wheaton and Sligo Middle School in Silver Spring.

The meeting will outline concept plans developed through a Safe Routes to School walkability study, which evaluated existing pedestrian infrastructure and identified potential improvements to help provide safer and more accessible routes for students who walk or bike to school. Proposed sidewalk construction locations include several streets in the Wheaton-Glenmont area, including Bucknell Drive, Cascade Place, Dunkirk Drive, Etna Place, Glenhaven Drive, Grandin Road, Gridley Lane, Plyers Mill Road, Republic Road, and Windham Lane.

The meeting will be held virtually on Microsoft Teams. MCDOT staff will present the plans and answer questions, and the public can also submit feedback by email or phone through May 15.
