Montgomery County Department of Police detectives are investigating a fatal collision that occurred early Sunday morning near Laytonsville that claimed the life of a Clarksburg man.
According to police, the collision occurred at approximately 1:27 am on Sunday, March 15 at the intersection of Woodfield Road and Glendalough Road.
Investigators say 39-year-old Jorge Estuardo Moran Hernandez of Clarksburg was driving a black 2012 Ford F150 northbound on Woodfield Road when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle struck a black 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling southbound.
Following the collision, the Ford crashed into an embankment, rolled over, and struck a guardrail. Police say Moran Hernandez was partially ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.
The adult female driver of the Jeep was transported to an area hospital with critical but stable injuries.
The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash, which officials say may take several weeks to months to complete.
