Third Suspect Arrested in 2025 North Bethesda Homicide Case

Montgomery County Police have taken a third suspect into custody in connection with a September 2025 homicide in North Bethesda.

On March 17, 2026, detectives with the U.S. Marshals Task Force and MCPD 1st District Special Assignment Team located and arrested 25-year-old Justin Michael Green Collins, of Silver Spring, in Washington, D.C. Collins had remained outstanding following the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Akwalabeng Fontava inside his apartment on September 21, 2025.

Police said two other suspects had previously been arrested, including Sheldon Milan Boykins, who was taken into custody the day of the incident, and Joshua Carter, who was later apprehended in North Carolina and extradited to Montgomery County. Investigators also charged Collins’s mother, Shatym Neko Sanderson, with accessory after the fact, alleging she provided financial assistance while he was on the run. Collins is currently being held in Washington, D.C. on handgun charges, while Boykins and Carter remain held without bond in Montgomery County awaiting trial.
