Montgomery County Police released a roundup Thursday of notable incidents reported March 18 across the county, including an aggravated assault arrest involving a knife on a Ride On bus, an attempted armed robbery and stabbing of a juvenile, multiple auto thefts, school threats and a hate-bias vandalism case.
According to MCPD’s daily crime summary, officers arrested a suspect after an 11:52am aggravated assault in the 200 block of E. Middle Lane. Police said the suspect pulled out a fixed-blade knife on a Ride On bus, threatened to stab another passenger, then followed the victim off the bus. Officers later located the suspect, who was found with two knives.
In another serious case, police reported an attempted armed robbery and stabbing at 2:44pm in the 10200 block of Old Georgetown Road. MCPD said two suspects tried to rob a juvenile of his shoes and phone. The victim was followed outside and stabbed during a struggle. Both suspects were later located by officers.
The department also reported a commercial burglary in the 6500 block of Rock Spring Drive at 6:30am. Police said an unknown suspect was found sleeping inside the rear entrance of a building. No signs of forced entry were found and nothing was taken.
Several property crimes were also included in the department’s March 18 summary. Police reported an auto theft in the 11400 block of July Drive, another in the 3700 block of Bel Pre Road, and a third in the 15200 block of Siesta Key Way. MCPD also reported a residential burglary at a home under construction in the 11000 block of Medical Center Drive, where copper piping was stolen.
Schools were also the focus of multiple incidents in the report. At Rocky Hill Middle School, police said a racial slur was found written on a desk around noon, and the case is being investigated as hate-bias vandalism. At Roberto Clemente Middle School, a student was removed from class and searched after sending a concerning group chat message. Police said no weapons were found. At Watkins Mill Middle School, MCPD reported that a former student made threats to the school after being warned not to trespass on school grounds.
Police also noted a vandalism incident tied to a known TikTok trend in the 18900 block of Treebranch Terrace. According to MCPD, an unknown suspect rang a victim’s doorbell, fled, then returned a short time later and kicked the front door.
