The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual public meeting on Thursday, March 26 at 7 pm to discuss proposed safety improvements along a 1.3 mile stretch of Hines Road between Georgia Avenue (MD 97) and Cashell Road in Olney.
The meeting will include a presentation of the proposed changes, followed by a question and answer session and an opportunity for public feedback. Attendance requires advance online registration and will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.
The proposed improvements were developed after reviewing crash history, traffic speeds, and traffic volumes in the area and are aimed at improving safety for all roadway users. Plans include new crosswalks and ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps, pedestrian refuge islands, concrete medians, pavement markings, and dynamic speed signs. Residents can also submit feedback by email through May 15, with written comments carrying the same weight as oral testimony and becoming part of the public record.
