Montgomery College Student Ingrid Toukep Named 2026 Hites Scholar, Awarded $7,500 Scholarship

Montgomery College student Ingrid Toukep has been selected as a 2026 Hites Scholar, earning a $7,500 scholarship to support her continued education after transferring to a four-year institution.

Toukep, originally from Cameroon, is a computer science major and STEM honors student at Montgomery College. She currently serves as president of the college’s Phi Theta Kappa Beta Lambda Alpha chapter and has also been named a semifinalist for the 2026 Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.

She plans to transfer in fall 2026 and is considering several institutions, including Case Western Reserve University and Smith College. Toukep intends to pursue a bachelor’s degree in data science with a minor in economics.

The Hites Transfer Scholarship is awarded to Phi Theta Kappa members preparing to transfer to bachelor’s degree-granting colleges or universities. Toukep was selected from more than 3,000 applicants nationwide, recognized for her academic achievement, leadership, and involvement both on campus and in the community.

At Montgomery College, Toukep plays an active role in supporting fellow students. She works as a tutor and student aide at the Science Learning Centers, serves as a library student aide, and represents the college as a STEM ambassador, helping promote engagement and peer learning in science and technology fields.

As part of the scholarship, she will receive $7,500 and a commemorative medallion, with funds distributed after she transfers to a four-year institution.

Toukep will also be honored alongside other recipients during the Parade of Scholars at PTK Catalyst, scheduled for March 26-28 in Baltimore.

The Hites Transfer Scholarship is funded by the Hites Family Community College Scholarship Foundation and the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation. Established by Robert Hites, a former Ralston-Purina executive who later became a community college instructor, it is the largest scholarship awarded by Phi Theta Kappa to its members.
