Montgomery County Natives Bringing Adobo Day Party Back to Nationals Park for Second Year

Montgomery County’s own Pedro Night and Walter Alvarado are bringing their rapidly growing multicultural event, Adobo, back to Nationals Park for its second annual day party.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 from 5:30pm to 10pm at the Plaza Stage at Nationals Park, located at 1500 S Capitol St SE in Washington, D.C. Organizers are building off the success of last year’s debut, which drew more than 4,000 attendees to kick off the summer season.

Both founders have deep roots in Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg. Pedro Night attended Goshen Elementary School, Montgomery Village Middle School, and Watkins Mill High School, while Walter Alvarado attended South Lake Elementary School, Neelsville Middle School, and Montgomery Village Middle School before also graduating from Watkins Mill High School in 2012. The two met at church in Gaithersburg at just 11 years old and have remained close ever since, united by their shared passion for music and cultural expression.

Since launching in 2018, Adobo has evolved into one of the DMV’s most recognized multicultural event brands, celebrating influences from Central and South America, the Caribbean, Africa, and beyond. What started at a small Bethesda bar has grown into large-scale events at major venues across Washington, D.C., including Echostage, The Bullpen, and the Kennedy Center.

Last year marked a major milestone as Adobo became the inaugural event at Nationals Park’s Plaza Stage. Its return for a second consecutive year highlights both its continued growth and the strong demand for events that reflect the cultural fabric of the region.

With more than 100,000 attendees across its events over the years, Adobo continues to bring together communities through music, dance, and shared cultural pride, and is once again set to help usher in the summer season in the nation’s capital.
