The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is inviting public middle schools to participate in its fifth annual “Paint the Plow” competition, where students design and name a snowplow for a chance to win cash prizes for their school. Participation is free, with supplies provided, and schools must register by 5 pm on Friday, April 10.
This year’s theme, tied to National Public Works Week, highlights the essential services public works teams provide to keep communities running safely.
Winning schools can receive prizes of $500, $300, and $200, typically supporting art programs or school clubs. The decorated plows will be displayed for public voting at MCDOT’s Truck Day event on Saturday, May 16, at the depot in Rockville, where residents can also explore a variety of County vehicles and learn more about public works operations.
