Coming soon signage is now up for Carmen’s Italian Ice at Cabin John Village in Potomac, offering the clearest sign yet that the popular local dessert shop is getting closer to opening its newest Montgomery County location. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.
The new shop will be located inside the shopping center, next to Colony Pizza and near Moby Dick. When it opens, Carmen’s is expected to offer six to eight flavors of frozen custard alongside approximately 18 to 20 varieties of Italian ice, as well as gelatis, shakes, and other frozen treats.
Carmen’s Italian Ice first opened in Rockville at 1115 Nelson Street and has steadily expanded across the county, with additional locations in Olney, Kensington, and the Kentlands in Gaithersburg. The brand was founded in 2001 by Jason Mandler, who set out to bring the tradition of Italian ice from South Jersey and Philadelphia to the Washington, DC region.
Earlier this year, the company indicated it was targeting a late spring or early summer opening for the Cabin John Village location, though that timeline has not been officially confirmed. The newly added signage suggests progress is ongoing as anticipation builds for the Potomac debut.
