MCFRS Rescues Dogs from House Fire as All Occupants Escape Safely

Update: According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the fire occurred Sunday (4/5) at a two-story single-family home on Prince Hall Court. One family was able to escape the home, while firefighters rescued several dogs during the incident. Four of the six dogs inside were saved, but a seventh dog did not survive.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded to a working house fire in the 7700 block of Prince Hall Ct. in Gaithersburg.

Firefighters arrived to find fire on the second floor of the home and quickly advanced hose lines while conducting primary searches. Multiple dogs were rescued during the incident and safely removed from the residence. Truck companies assisted with search and ventilation as crews operated under an established incident command.

According to Assistant Chief David Pazos, all occupants were able to escape without injury and the fire has been extinguished. Four of the six dogs in the home were rescued by MCFRS personnel and received medical care. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

MCFRS reminds residents that working smoke alarms and practiced escape plans save lives. If a fire occurs, get out and stay out, and do not re-enter the structure.
