The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will begin its semi-annual interior washdown of 21 County-owned parking garages on Monday, April 13, with work scheduled overnight and on weekends through Tuesday, June 9.
The cleanings will start in Bethesda and continue through Silver Spring and Wheaton. During this time, some garages will experience partial closures, including select entrances, exits, and ramps, as crews work to complete the maintenance.
MCDOT conducts these spring and fall washdowns to remove grease, oil, and debris and to prevent pollutants from entering local waterways. The cleanings also help protect garage structures from deterioration caused by salt, sand, dirt, and other buildup. Contractors will work around traffic and parked vehicles when possible, and signage will be posted to notify customers of any temporary impacts.
