Montgomery County Police (MCPD) has released video of a stolen vehicle incident that occurred on March 18 involving 3rd District officers in Silver Spring.
Officers initially observed the vehicle being driven erratically at a high rate of speed, and a license plate check revealed it had been reported stolen. The vehicle later came to a stop in traffic, where officers approached and gave commands for the driver to turn off the car, but the driver instead attempted to flee, striking two vehicles.
Both occupants were taken into custody without injury, and the vehicle was confirmed stolen on scene. The video highlights how quickly the situation escalated and the actions officers took in real time to help maintain public safety.
