Montgomery County Police (MCPD) responded to Watkins Mill High School in Gaithersburg at approximately 12:16pm on Tuesday for the report of a student with a firearm.
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) placed the school in a hold status while officers conducted their investigation.
Police located a firearm in the possession of the student, who has since been detained. The scene has been secured, and officials say there is no additional threat to the Watkins Mill campus.
