Local Bar Crawl to Benefit Animal Shelter, Set for April 18 in Kentlands

A longtime Kentlands tradition is returning next week with a community-driven twist, as a local bar crawl will once again bring residents together for a good cause.

The Kentlands Bar Crawl is set for April 18 from 4pm to 9pm, with participating stops including Vasilis, Burtons, Vine Alley, Dog Haus, and Brews and Barrels. Attendees can move between locations throughout the evening while supporting a local nonprofit.

This year’s beneficiary is the Montgomery County Humane Society, an organization focused on ending animal homelessness through education, outreach, and adoption while strengthening the bond between pets and their families. QR codes will be available at each bar, allowing participants to make direct donations to the shelter.

The event is organized by local residents Kristin Johnston, Sue Kravitz, and Sumbal Sheldon. Since launching in 2023, the group has raised more than $5,000 for area nonprofits, including Comfort Cases, Feed the Fridge, and Rainbow Shelter.

After hosting one crawl annually in 2023 and 2024, organizers expanded to two events per year starting in 2025, reflecting both growing participation and the increasing number of bars in the Kentlands area.

A second bar crawl is already planned for October, with proceeds benefiting For 3 Sisters, a nonprofit that supports Montgomery County residents undergoing cancer treatment. That event is also expected to feature Marshall’s pink fire truck.
