Restaurant Offers Customer Free BBQ for a Year After Heartbreaking DoorDash Note

A heartfelt message left on a DoorDash order has led to an outpouring of generosity from Mackie’s Barbecue, which is now trying to track down the customer to offer a life-changing gesture. The order included a single “Mystery Cookie,” but it was the note attached that stood out.

“Hello this is my first order. I currently do not have much money and I am struggling. Is it possible to get food. Whether it be ribs or chicken or anything left out or about to be thrown away. Please, thank you.” The message quickly reached the restaurant’s team, who shared it publicly in hopes of finding the customer. In their response posted to social media, they wrote:

“…if you see this, please reach out to us directly. DoorDash does not give us customer contact information, so we have no way of finding you. We saw your message, and it truly meant a lot to us. We would be honored to take care of you — free barbecue for the next year. Please message us privately – we got you 🤍” The post has since gained attention for its compassion, with many praising the restaurant for stepping in to help someone in need.

This isn’t the first time the business has stepped up for the community. Following a shooting at Wootton High School in February, the restaurant provided complimentary catering for 35 teachers who were being recognized by the school.

“In light of the recent events at Wootton High School – we were honored to provide complimentary catering for 35 teachers being recognized by the school. Along with Mackie’s Gold Cards – offering free barbecue for a year. Thank you for everything you do!”
