Detectives with the Montgomery County Department of Police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a shooting that occurred last weekend at a Clarksburg playground.
According to a press release from Thursday, April 9th, officers from the 5th District responded at approximately 7:05pm on Saturday, April 4, 2026, to Elm Shade Playground in the 11900 block of Elm Shade Court.
According to the preliminary investigation, a group of approximately six to eight individuals had gathered at the playground before splitting up. At some point during that interaction, gunfire erupted. A nearby vehicle was struck by the gunfire, but fortunately no injuries were reported.
Police say the incident happened during daylight hours and in the presence of community members, raising concerns about safety in what is typically a family-oriented space.
Detectives are urging anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information about those involved to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers, and a reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
